Anta Gueye-James

Ndeye Anta was born in Dakar, Senegal. She grew up with 4 siblings in an airline-employees family. From a young age, she was always a justice seeker and loved to write. These early attributes followed her into adulthood. After a baccalaureate in Economics in Dakar, she moved to the US where she obtained two Bachelors in Economics and International Studies from the University of North Florida in Jacksonville, and then a Masters in International Development Studies from the George Washington University in DC. Anta had a rich career in public health and community development, grounding her work in equity, disparities reduction, policy and systems change and advocacy. She worked quite a lot on training and community education and her career included government, private and nonprofit sectors.She started developing strong leadership skills in college, as officer for several on-campus clubs and continued as a professional through voluntary participation in committees and associations as a way to give back and be a productive citizen and community member. After nearly 24 years in the US, she is now based in Africa where, besides her writing, she provides executive coaching, strategy consulting and trusted advisor collaborations in various sectors. Anta is the mom of a young daughter, loves food, arts and culture and enjoys travelling to experience them around the world. She often says that her dream job would be to get paid to travel, eat and write about it!
